St. Swithin’s, a co-educational boarding school in rural Lincolnshire, prides itself on allowing students to express their individuality freely, which, encouraged, they do in a number of bizarre ways. Leroy, repressed and arch conservative, has a father who is too busy making money to have much idea about what his son is really like. He sends him to St. Swithin’s in desperation after Leroy had been expelled from several schools for being so aggressively prim and proper.
Leroy arrives at the school with deep foreboding, but is conscious that this is his last chance to earn his father’s love. It’s worse than he could have imagined, but he finds Isobel, who has found that her individuality excludes bizarre behavior. They naturally form an alliance and she sets out to rescue Leroy and finally succeeds passionately and joyfully.
South Africa, one of his favorite places, inspires the beginning of his writings. Read or listen to his words and find the delicate intricacies of how he lives and what he has to say. More importantly, immerse yourself in worlds of delight that will make your heart beat fast and allow your imagination to soar.View all by Aurther Abel
