A game Park is a place of adventure – sometimes the animals provide it; sometimes it’s the people. In “Resuscitation,” Stephen has been traumatized by the accidental death of his wife and son, caught in the crossfire of a civil disturbance in Gauteng, South Africa. His mother suggests that he go on safari at Lunguzi National Park in Zambia to help him recover. He agrees reluctantly. In the safari group, there is a single American woman who has a son disturbingly like his own. To make matters worse, the boy, in need of a father figure, reaches out to Stephen. His mother, paranoid about the possibility of child abuse, reacts violently and tells him to keep away from her son. Stephen has no choice but to agree. The woman attacks him violently at first, but is made to understand that Stephen has saved her son’s life, does an about-face, and begins to imagine he might take the place of her absent husband.
