“Rondo,” Christy has come out from Scotland to teach music at a primary school in Blantyre, Malawi. Soon after she settles into her cottage on the school grounds, she hears a choir rehearsing and investigates since joining a choir would give her a chance not only to sing but to make friends. She has a remarkably beautiful singing voice, which causes attention, and at the end of the rehearsal, people gather round to congratulate her. One of them is a rather fey young woman named Imogen who invites her round for a drink after the rehearsal. Christy, suspicious of her intentions, turns her down but instead accepts the invitation of an incredibly handsome and charming fellow, who escorts her home. She invites him in, and a passionate night ensues. But the next day, he ignores her, and Christy learns that he is an infamous sexual predator. Feeling upset, she accepts Imogen’s renewed invitation.
