By the time the two of them work out what they are standing in, the bookie holding her marker turns out to be the same one who has been taking his father's action for twenty years, and a teammate who wants the closer's role has noticed that the rookie goes pale when his phone lights up.
A closed-door baseball romance about inherited debt, a nurse who reads mechanics like a chart, a sick sister, and two people who each did something they cannot take back for someone they love.
