When the sea in the quiet town of Calder Bay suddenly becomes perfectly still, archivist Elias Marrow and photographer Mara discover that the event, known in forgotten records as the Quiet Tide, has happened before. As they investigate the harbor, they realize a colossal ancient creature has awakened beneath the water and is silently observing the world above after centuries of sleep. When the creature finally rises from the depths, they understand it is not hunting humanity but listening, searching to see if the world it remembers is still alive.
