When a deep bell begins ringing from beneath the quiet lake beside Alder Hollow, Tomas and Lysa discover the ruins of a forgotten town and its church tower resting on the lakebed. After diving to investigate, they learn the bell is ringing because the ground beneath the lake is splitting apart, warning that the valley may collapse again just as it did generations earlier. Thanks to the bell’s warning, the villagers escape to higher ground before the lakebed breaks open and the water reshapes the valley forever.
