About this audiobook

Somewhere there is a statement you have not opened. You could work out the number in twenty minutes. You have not, because you already expect the answer. Here it is. Count everybody, and the median working American has $955 saved for retirement. If you thought you were unusual, you are not. You are the median. The pension was replaced by an account you were expected to fill alone, and nobody ever said how much. Around 42 percent of full-time workers were never given a plan at all. And the old-age fund runs out of reserves in late 2032, eleven years before a fifty-year-old retires. None of that was announced. This book works out what is actually left. Working longer. Claiming later. Reducing what you spend, where a dollar a month is worth twenty-five dollars of capital. Collecting what you are already owed. No moralising. No allocation advice. No promise that it will be fine. An accurate account of where you stand, and a few things that still work.
