Lisa Lovatt-Smith
began her career in magazine publishing at the tender age of eighteen. After
winning a writing contest she began working as an intern for British Vogue.
At nineteen she became the youngest photo editor in Condé Nast history, thanks
in part to Anna Wintour, who saw her potential early on. In 2002, after
years of working in fashion, she left everything behind to open up an
orphanage in Ghana. Since then, Lovatt-Smith has continued her humanitarian efforts,
using her connections in the fashion industry to raise awareness and spread her
message. Today, she lives in a mud hut in Ghana, where she runs her
organization OrphanAid Africa.
