Retired handyman Earl Buxton expects to spend his golden years fixing garbage disposals and arguing with his wife Margaret about home improvement projects. Instead, a mysterious corporation hands him an uninhabited planet and a mountain of intergalactic paperwork. With help from a foul-mouthed mentor named Verna, his skeptical wife, and the local hardware store owner, Earl discovers that building worlds isn't so different from fixing what's broken—especially when the squirrels inevitably try to take over.
