The Missing Centuries of Joseph Horne is a genre-blending historical fantasy that begins in 1952, when a mysterious young man is discovered in Haiti under impossible circumstances: local villagers claim he fell out of a coffin during a funeral rite, yet he is alive, unmarked, and suffering from total memory dislocation. Taken to a trauma institute in Miami, he identifies himself as Joseph William Horne, an English boy born in 1739, and insists he was last aboard an eighteenth-century ship before somehow waking in the modern world. His psychiatrist, Daniele “Dani” Corby, initially treats him as a psychological anomaly, but as Joey writes out his memories and later recounts them under hypnosis, evidence begins to accumulate that his story may be true. Records in England confirm that a Joseph Horne did indeed sail from Plymouth in 1754, and Joey’s knowledge of the eighteenth century is too detailed and too consistent to dismiss easily.
