He addresses the Bible's origin and authority, refutes idolatry and image-worship, and closes with a sustained account of divine providence — arguing that nothing unfolds by chance, but all things are governed by God's sovereign hand, even as human responsibility remains intact. This edition renders Calvin's sixteenth-century argument, based on the 1845 Beveridge translation, into clear modern English while preserving his section numbering and the full weight of his theology.
