Legend has it that when the time comes, all those who need to come together will be drawn together and that all those things that need to happen will happen. The members of an ancient order, 'The Brydda' most definitely believe, but revealing themselves means risk of death.
Meanwhile, a young warrior queen, facing potential rebellion on her borders, draws her troops together to assert her authority, despite the risk of sparking civil war.
Elsewhere, a young maid to a noble lady, fleeing for her life after she is assaulted, finds refuge in an unexpected place, where memories flood her mind from a past that could never have been.
Not far away, an inn keeper finds himself hosting a guest who is a soldier returning from a foreign war and a guest who is a constable on a mission from the king. Very quickly things begin to take an unexpected and very dangerous turn.
I tried for over 20 ears to write a novel, but I failed every time. I simply couldn't sustain the inspiration. Then, during a visit to Scotland, I started writing 'The Fire Tree'. The words poured onto the page like a torrent, as if a dam had burst.
I ended up writing 4 huge books, each almost 200,000 words each.
I split those books down into 6, then 10, then finally into 12 books, each of around 60,000 words.
I have now edited, proofed & published 6 of them as an independent author.View all by Ken Peter Kirk
