Summary
Elmer Figgis, a grumpy night clerk at a dusty Nebraska mini-mart, finds his lonely world upended when a vampire lord informs him the store sits on a nexus of Eternal Night. Thrust into managing a borderland between worlds, Elmer must fend off soul-scavengers, placate vampire bureaucrats, and repel starry-eyed rebels—armed only with wasp spray, stale coffee, and stubborn pragmatism. To save his store and his soul, this unlikely custodian must learn that the deepest darkness can only be held back by the weight of a sunlit human memory.
