Leo Finch, a lowly NASA paper-pusher drowning in apocalypse bureaucracy, accidentally buys a plot of doomed alien real estate. This ludicrous deed plunges him into a cosmic conspiracy: the "Redshift" destroying stars is no natural disaster, but a weapon wielded by genocidal artists. Teaming with a desert hermit and a rogue physicist, Leo uses his bureaucratic skills to hijack a spaceship, answer a dying civilization's plea for help, and confront the source of the song. To save Earth, he must weaponize the ultimate human talents: red tape, property law, and the courage to send a very strongly worded letter to God.
