In the true story Crossroads and Courage, a young Nigerian who left school to become a doctor ends up working in a foreign hospital, studying during a Ukrainian air raid, and taking anatomy classes in an environment that smells like formaldehyde. Through the border trains, the gloomy wards, and a reexamination of the patients' pasts, he learns that resilience is a thousand small decisions to continue rather than a single heroic deed. This memoir chronicles his journey to transform scepticism into meaning, alienation into home, education into action, and the final leap towards becoming a resident with more confident hands and a new heart of anything. It includes sensory details, straightforward reflections, and bare pictures.
