The Widows' Fund, created to support families left behind by the dead, has become tangled in a web of missing money, fraudulent records, and the Lazzaro family's criminal power. Toby wants the truth. Vin has been ordered to find the evidence first, and his loyalty to the family is built on debts he has never believed he could repay.
When the investigation turns violent and the people Vin once called family become a threat, he must choose between obedience and the first life he has wanted for himself in years. Toby, meanwhile, must decide how much of the truth he can expose without destroying the people he is trying to protect.
