Get to know Dorothy Jacobsen, a recent widow and aspiring mystery writer, as she navigates social engagements and the aftermath of a deadly incident. Another thread involves Inez and her troublesome nephew, Benny, along with a potential blackmail scheme. Political undercurrents appear with Congressman Hartfield and his connections to some of the individuals. Teenagers Jeremy and Tommy engage in mischievous activities that lead to unexpected observations. A literary agent's arrival in town creates both excitement and suspicion among the writers. The book hints at secrets, rivalries within the writing group, and escalating tensions that suggest a larger mystery unfolding.
