The story follows Kael, a low-level maintenance technician in the smog-choked Lower Tiers, where the air is a rationed, metallic-tasting commodity. While repairing a failing atmospheric scrubber, Kael discovers a forbidden, high-tech data prism that reveals a devastating secret: the building’s air scarcity is a manufactured lie. Hidden behind the rusted infrastructure is a self-sustaining biological engine known as Filter Prime and the Mechanical Lung, a massive algae-based system capable of providing clean, free oxygen to every citizen.
