About
History took a different turn. The world kept going.
In The Clockwork Frontier's alternate 1880s, aether-powered airships cross the skies, empires manoeuvre for advantage, and America's Civil War drags into its third decade. Behind the respectable face of a learned society, the Order of St Brendan investigates mysteries governments would rather bury.
Dr Nathaniel Cross, a physician and former army officer, knows the right thing is rarely the easy thing. Countess Anastasia Volkonskaya, a brilliant linguist and archaeologist, asks questions powerful people don't want answered. Alongside engineer Pieter van der Berg and their allies, they follow clues from London's gaslit streets to the far reaches of a changed world.
Murder, espionage, impossible inventions and dangerous convictions await. When extraordinary power falls into human hands, the consequences are rarely what anyone intended.
A gaslamp series of mystery, alternate history, dry humour and cinematic adventure.
