Nat Ravenveil writes crime fiction in the north of Finland, where the dark season runs from November to January.
The novels are urban and noir, and most interested in motive. The City of Shattered Truths follows the Hawkton Investigators and Max Sanderson, a private investigator whose own past turns out to be the most dangerous piece of evidence in the case.
What draws Nat in is the reasoning rather than the method: the detective holding something back, the killer whose logic is almost persuasive, the moment a listener notices they have been rooting for the wrong person.
