About this audiobook

When Addie was small, a dead girl reached through the closet door. Pale fingers that bent at angles that weren't quite right. Black hair plastered to her skull. A dress dripping river water onto the carpet. And where her eyes should have been, smooth pale skin, like a doll someone had taken a knife to. Then a whisper that wasn't sound. Addie, I know your secret. Her mother stood in the kitchen that night and said the only thing that mattered. "You can't have her. She's mine." Years later, the cold is back. It slides under doors like water. It pools across the carpet. It turns her breath to white. Now Addie has a brother, Leo, who clutches her sleeve and can't ever know what she sees in the dark. She has a town that trades whispers about the decaying estate at its edge. And she has a curse that didn't end with the grave — it only learned to wait. The drowned girl wants something. She said so the first night, through teeth too small and too sharp. The locked room behind the estate's one lit window remembers. And the secret Addie's mother died protecting is buried under the floorboards, waiting to be read aloud. A dove with a hidden truth. A locket that won't stay shut. A journal in the floor that changes everything. Every truth she uncovers costs someone she loves. Every door she opens lets the cold in deeper. And when the dead finally speak, they don't beg. They accuse. She failed her brother once. She won't survive failing him again. Now Addie has to choose between the silence that keeps her family safe and the confession that might be the only thing that frees them — before the whispering dead come to collect what they are owed. Whispering Dead is a chilling YA supernatural thriller about a haunted estate, a sealed room, a deadly family secret, fierce sibling love, and a curse that refuses to stay buried.
