About this audiobook
The Vampire, His Kith and Kin is a book by Montague Summers, first published in 1928. A pioneering work in vampire folklore, it delves into historical accounts, literature, and supernatural beliefs surrounding the vampire figure. Summers, a noted scholar of the occult and Gothic horror, approaches the subject with both academic rigor and an almost supernatural conviction, blending folklore, theology, and historical documentation to explore the vampire as both a mythical and real entity.
Drawing from a vast array of sources, including medieval chronicles, theological debates, and literary representations, Summers traces the vampire’s origins and its influence across different cultures. The book examines the vampire’s connection to witchcraft, demonology, and burial customs, providing an in-depth look at how the legend evolved over time. A significant influence on later vampire studies and Gothic literature, The Vampire, His Kith and Kin remains an essential text for those interested in the darker side of folklore and the supernatural.
