About this audiobook

F. G. Smith's The Revelation Explained is a systematic exposition of the New Testament Apocalypse, written to make its dense symbolism intelligible to earnest Bible readers. Moving through visions of seals, trumpets, beasts, Babylon, and the New Jerusalem, Smith reads Revelation as a prophetic panorama of church history and spiritual conflict. Its style is didactic and polemical, combining close scriptural cross-reference with the confident interpretive manner of early twentieth-century holiness and restorationist literature. Smith was a minister and writer associated with the Church of God reformation movement, a context that deeply shaped his reading of prophecy. His concern was not merely speculative chronology but the vindication of a purified church over against institutional corruption, sectarian confusion, and worldliness. The book reflects an author formed by revivalist preaching, biblical primitivism, and the conviction that prophecy speaks directly to the moral and ecclesiastical crises of his age. This volume is recommended to readers interested in historic Protestant interpretations of Revelation, American holiness theology, and the religious imagination of restorationist movements. Even where modern readers may question its conclusions, the book remains valuable as a serious, disciplined, and revealing attempt to interpret Revelation as a message of judgment, perseverance, and ultimate divine triumph.
