The Book of Abramelin and the Act of Celibacy
The Act of CelibacyBy Gabriel Lucas Jackson

About this audiobook
The Book of Abramelin, a grimoire of significant historical and esoteric import, presents a unique challenge and opportunity for those seeking to understand the depths of Western magical traditions. Unlike many texts that offer a catalog of spells or a theoretical exposition of occult principles, Abramelin is fundamentally a narrative. It unfolds as an epistolary autobiography, wherein the figure of Abraham of Worms recounts his spiritual pilgrimage and the divine revelations granted to him by the Egyptian mage Abramelin to his son, Lamech. This narrative framework is not a mere stylistic choice; it is foundational to the grimoire's purpose, imbuing the teachings with a personal authority and emphasizing the sacred trust involved in their transmission. Abraham’s journey to Egypt, his reception of two manuscripts filled with Kabbalistic secrets, and his subsequent oath to serve God and divine law form the dramatic arc that frames the intricate magical system presented within.
