About this audiobook
Morning and Evening Prayers for All Days of the Week is a compact yet theologically rich devotional manual, ordering the believer's daily life around disciplined address to God. Its prayers are marked by scriptural cadence, penitential seriousness, and pastoral clarity, joining Reformation doctrine to the older Christian rhythm of morning and evening devotion. In its plain but elevated style, the book exemplifies Lutheran piety: faith is not abstract speculation, but daily trust, confession, thanksgiving, and petition. Johann Habermann, also known by the Latinized name Avenarius, was a sixteenth-century Lutheran theologian and pastor whose work emerged from the devotional needs of post-Reformation communities. Trained in biblical languages and shaped by pastoral ministry, he understood prayer as both catechesis and consolation. His concern was to place sound theology into the mouths of ordinary Christians, helping households sanctify time amid labor, anxiety, temptation, and mortality. This book is recommended to readers interested in Reformation spirituality, historical prayer books, or the disciplined cultivation of daily devotion. Its language may be centuries old, but its concerns remain recognizably human: dependence, gratitude, repentance, and hope. Scholars and general readers alike will find in Habermann a lucid guide to prayer as a lifelong practice.
