Lester Leavitt's research on governing narratives, rural disenfranchisement, and the architecture of institutional power runs across four major doctoral papers, two peer-reviewed journal publications, conference presentations on three continents, and eight books — three nonfiction, five speculative fiction. Born on a sheep farm in Cardston, Alberta, he holds a Master of Public Administration and completed five years of doctoral coursework at Florida Atlantic University. He is active in numerous service organizations in Jo Daviess County and lives in Galena, Illinois, with his husband. In 2026 he is the independent candidate for Illinois House District 89.
