L. Ron Hubbard (1911-1986) was an American science fiction writer and the founder of the Church of Scientology. He was born in Tilden, Nebraska, and grew up in Helena, Montana. Hubbard began his writing career in the 1930s and went on to write numerous science fiction and fantasy stories, as well as several non-fiction books.
