Joan Quigley is an attorney and former business reporter for the Miami Herald. She is the author of The Day the Earth Caved In: An American Mining Tragedy, for which she received the J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award. She lives with her husband outside of Washington, D.C.
