Herbert Pendleton was born in an era when being Black in America meant facing systemic barriers to opportunity and advancement. He persevered. That lived experience — navigating a society structured against him — became the driving force behind this work. Writing as a witness to history, Pendleton's mission is to document the truth of the Black American journey and ensure it is never forgotten. He resides in Eugene, Oregon.
