Betty Norwood Chaney, originally from a Mississippi farm, is a writer, editor, and retired professor with an MA in English from SUNY Binghamton. For forty years, she has called Atlanta home.She is the playwright of The Rooting Place saga, a trilogy produced by Impact Theater Atlanta. Though she began the first script in 1985, marriage, career, and raising a special needs child delayed its completion for decades. The saga finally debuted in 2016, followed by The Uprooting (2017) and The ReRooting (2019), both performed at the Hapeville Performing Arts Center.
