Dr. Alex Monroe had three talents in life: talking to animals who never talked back, arguing with mosquitoes, and spilling coffee on expensive equipment. None of these made him popular at the University of California, but they did make him the perfect scientist to send to Yellowstone in early May when the park was still half frozen, half mosquito, and entirely unpredictable.
