"The Silverado Squatters" is a travel memoir by Robert Louis Stevenson. In the book, Stevenson describes his two-month honeymoon in 1880 to Napa Valley, California, with his new wife, Fanny. Experiencing ill health, he sought the reputedly health-giving attributes of the local climate. The couple stayed in an abandoned mining camp named "Silverado". The story depicts their interactions with the rugged landscape, the frontier culture of the area, and the quirky, colourful characters they encounter. The illustrator, J. D. Strong, enhances the narration with vivid visuals that further help to paint the picture of their adventures.
