Sir Frederick Barton Maurice (1871–1951) was with the Sherwood Foresters in the 2nd Boer War. In WWI, he was Director of Military Operations for the Imperial General Staff in London. He was appointed Professor of Military Studies at the University of London in 1926, teaching there and at Trinity College, Cambridge.
