When disgraced signalman Elias Morven accepts a lonely keeper’s post at the isolated Outer Skell Lighthouse, he believes he has come to the island to disappear alongside his guilt. Instead, he finds a decaying tower where the previous keeper vanished without explanation, dead voices echo through the stairwell after dark, and the lighthouse beam seems to call to something moving beneath the waves.
