After the world above becomes uninhabitable, humanity survives inside a massive underground city where memories are controlled, emotions are regulated, and rebellion means execution. When twenty six year old Lyra Vale discovers evidence that the government has been erasing entire populations from history and hiding the existence of a livable world above, she is forced into a dangerous alliance with a feared resistance leader determined to destroy the system before it destroys what remains of humanity.
