Toby Finch lived in a little town called Brooksville, whose most thrilling feature was to have Mrs. Higg cat stuck up in the oak tree every Thursday. Toby was a normal human being, as far as it can be said. He stepped on shoelaces, toasted bread with disturbing regularity and was barely able to run after the ice cream truck before it had disappeared.
