Tavian is chosen to save his drought stricken village by journeying to Thornpeak mountain and entering the mystical Forge. There, ancient beings reveal that sacrifice means transformation, not death. Tavian is reshaped on their anvil but retains his inner flame, emerging as a bridge between humanity and the ancient ones. He returns as the rains come, now a guardian between two worlds.
