The Endless Table
A Small Agreement Against the ColdBy Chris A. Piazza | Antherra™Length1h 7m
About this audiobook
Grief here is not sadness; it is cold — a temperature that comes down the canyon and ices the plates while a dead father keeps his place at the table, hungry, talkative, refusing to finish dying. Three powers arrive to claim him: the earth, which calls his death a debt; the colonial pages, which say he was written centuries before he was born; and a cracked phone that names grief an inefficiency and offers, very reasonably, to make it stop. His son has spent his life proving that no one chooses anything, and now has to decide which of them gets to author his father — while the table lengthens past the apartment, down the mountain, out onto a salt flat that mirrors the whole sky and gives back no floor to stand on. All three are telling the truth. Only one of them wants the table to go cold for good.
