About this audiobook
E. M. Delafield's 'Late and Soon' is a captivating novel that delves into the complexities of societal expectations and personal desires in early 20th-century England. Written in a subtle yet poignant style, the book explores the life of a young woman as she navigates the demands of her traditional family and her own yearning for independence. Delafield's precise language and keen observations offer a compelling glimpse into the protagonist's internal struggles and external conflicts, making 'Late and Soon' a thought-provoking read in the context of feminist literature of the time. The novel's vivid portrayal of the societal constraints placed upon women and the protagonist's journey towards self-discovery resonates with readers even today. Drawing inspiration from Delafield's own experiences as a woman writer in a patriarchal society, 'Late and Soon' provides a nuanced exploration of gender roles and individual agency. I highly recommend this book to readers interested in feminist literature, social history, and nuanced character studies.
