After a tragic accident takes his parents, sister, and brother, Caleb returns to Tellin, a small reservoir town he swore he'd never see again. His family belonged to the Keeping, a quiet congregation that believed nothing the lake takes is ever truly lost. The congregation has dwindled away, but the town hasn't recovered. Coffee steams in empty diners, swings move on windless afternoons, and behind every half-open curtain, someone seems to be watching.
Then the voices start. His mother humming at the stove. His sister calling him in for supper. At first they terrify him. Soon, in a town this quiet, he finds himself waiting for them.
Everybody Comes Back is a slow-burn story about grief, guilt, and going home one last time, and about the kind of devotion that never lets you leave.
