In earlier books, I hinted at Marietti and Jake's experience in Africa and as I thought about the idea for Destroyer of Worlds, it seemed to me that Marietti would have wanted to stop the same thing happening again.
I was nineteen in 1994 when the genocide happened and I remember seeing pictures of the mass graves. Researching the atrocity was difficult, but part of the reason that I write is to challenge my own thinking.
