About this audiobook
The Battle of Kadesh is one of the best known in history because it was the first that could be faithfully reconstructed in detail, based on records on both sides of the confrontation. Involving the Egyptians under Ramesses II, one of the best known pharaohs, and the Hittites (most allies) under King Muwattali, this battle for control of Syrian territory in the Levant has received considerable attention by many analysts over the years. In the simulation the Egyptian tactical maneuver will have three phases, the first being the establishment of divisive defensive devices; the second is the erosion and, if possible, the destruction of most enemy forces; and finally the third the conquest of Kadesh fortress. Within each division the light regiment (chariots), acting as a covering force, will avoid engaging and will make intense use of its firepower (bow and arrows) at a distance (2 hexes - up to 400 meters); and the infantry brigades, acting as protective forces, will form squares around the archers, allowing them to fire (as above) on the approaching enemy for the assault.
