About this audiobook
A Plant, a War, and a Human Brain is not simply a story about marijuana. It is a testimony about what decades of survival, risk, policing, money, loss, and adaptation can leave inside a human mind.
Vernon Snell takes readers from Washington Heights during the height of the drug wars through underground economies, highway runs, grow houses, police investigations, courtrooms, collapse, legitimate businesses, COVID, and ultimately reflection. Told through the Poetic Cinema® method, the book combines lived memory, reconstructed images, exhibits, and psychological observation to document an era from the inside.
As marijuana moves from criminalized plant to legal industry, one question remains: What happens to the people whose minds still carry the war after the laws have changed?
This is memory as evidence. Survival as testimony. A human brain trying to understand what remains.
