About this audiobook
This story focuses on Corin Hale and his adoptive family roughly five years after leaving the Nest. If you have not read the rest of the Four Kingdoms stories, Corin appears first in “The Cost of Friendship” and then in “The Value of Truth”.
Corin Hale is a young man with a complicated past. Born as an illegitimate son of the Western king, he escaped from his father at ten and was raised by the Hale family as a substitute for their born disabled and then deceased son to provide cover for his true origin. The Hales are a large warm and welcoming family that Corin cares for deeply.
He is also a trained assassin of the shadow collective - skills his teachers considered prudent for him to have, considering his true identity. He chose to not take it up as a career. He was offered the chance, he was good enough for it. He refused. And yet… Once a shadow, always a shadow, as he is about to learn. Even if you opt to never take a contract, the code still applies.
