I wrote the previous book, Map of Shadows after the Brexit vote in the UK. The theme of borders and being denied access runs through that story.
In a similar way, the news since has been filled with stories of refugees from war, climate change or those just searching for a new life with more opportunities. As countries build walls and strengthen borders, many refugees are turned away and it’s not too much of a stretch to think of them ending up in the Borderlands. Perhaps there is an answer in Map of the Impossible?
