Kael is a weary traveler bound to the North Edge, a massive, soul-siphoning iron axe that grants him brutal power at the cost of his physical health. Accompanied by a nameless girl, he navigates a decaying world, fighting off starving bandits and a literal rot-monster at a coastal bridge to save a dying town. Along the way, he resists the temptation to sell the weapon to a greedy merchant, realizing that while the iron is a crushing burden that is slowly killing him, it is the only thing keeping them alive in a world that breaks the unarmed.
