About this audiobook
The Montessori Elementary Material is a book written by Maria Montessori, a renowned Italian physician, and educator. This book is an extension of her earlier work in the field of education and focuses on developing a curriculum for elementary school children based on the Montessori method. The Montessori method emphasizes child-centered learning and self-directed activity. In this book, Montessori provides a detailed explanation of the elementary-level Montessori materials, which are designed to help children develop their cognitive, language, and social skills. She emphasizes the importance of allowing children to explore and discover on their own, rather than being taught through traditional teaching methods. The book includes descriptions and diagrams of various Montessori materials, such as the "long chains," "fraction insets," and "geometry cabinet," which are used to teach mathematics, and the "grammar boxes," which are used to teach language. Montessori also discusses the importance of integrating art, music, and movement into the curriculum, and provides examples of how these can be incorporated into the classroom. Overall, "The Montessori Elementary Material" is a comprehensive guide for educators who want to implement the Montessori method in their elementary school classrooms. It offers a detailed explanation of the theory behind the method and practical advice for using the Montessori materials effectively to promote children's intellectual and emotional development.
