Length34m
About this audiobook
In "Many Gods," Cale Young Rice delves into the complexities of the human experience through a rich tapestry of myths and legends that span various cultures. Employing a lyrical and evocative style, Rice weaves together a collection of poems that explore themes of divinity, mortality, and the interplay between the spiritual and the earthly realms. The book is situated within the broader context of early 20th-century American poetry, which often sought to reconcile the emerging modern sensibilities with traditional mythological elements, creating a unique dialogue between past and present. Cale Young Rice, an accomplished poet and playwright, was influenced by his extensive academic background and keen interest in classical literature. His engagement with the themes of mythology and spirituality in "Many Gods" can be traced to his fascination with the transcendental qualities of myth, as well as his personal quest for understanding in a rapidly changing world. Rice'Äôs experiences, alongside his literary influences from the likes of Walt Whitman and Edwin Arnold, shaped his vision for this distinctive work. For readers seeking a profound exploration of human existence through the lens of mythology, "Many Gods" is an essential addition to their literary collection. Rice's intricate verses will resonate with those intrigued by the relationship between the divine and the tangible, inviting reflection on the many facets of the human soul.
