About this audiobook
“We would sooner make a pyre of the stars than live subjugated to tyranny.”—Vice President Du, Spartan Republic, 3035 AD
For over seven hundred years, the Spartan Republic’s citizens have known one truth: Terra is coming. Descendants of exiles who dared to defy an emperor, the star nation’s 70 billion citizens spent the centuries training, arming…and waiting. Even with the Terran Emperor dead, the so-called “Confederation of Man” still claims sovereignty over all humans…and Sparta would rather die on their feet than subjugate themselves once more.
The Confederation of Man was born in the terror of the Harran Empire’s death throes. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, humanity now spreads from its cradle on Earth to hundreds of stars across the Milky Way and seeks out new worlds to add. Confronted with a savage enemy they could not have foreseen, the men and women of the Confederation Fleet are forced to match their opponents fervor in order to survive.
As Sparta and Earth clash across dozens of systems and stars themselves are rent asunder, the question remains: Will Humanity itself survive?
Aries’ Red Sky is a novel in James Young’s Vergassy Chronicles universe. Read by multi-Audie Award winner Jennifer Jill Araya, it is a perfect space operate for those who like high body counts, capital ship battles, and unremitting space combat. If this sounds up your alley, pick up an author who doesn’t believe in hero shields or plot armor.
