The Rusted Wasteland is a 6-book post-apocalyptic robot sci-fi series following Block, a humble CleanerBot who discovers a human infant after an AI apocalypse. Despite having no programming for childcare, Block becomes fiercely protective of the baby and journeys across devastated America to find safety.
Along the way, he gathers unlikely allies—Nova, a surly soldier, and memorable robot companions like Vacuubot and Oxford. Together they face scavengers, SoldierBots, Combat Mechs, and a relentless cyborg Bounty Hunter pursuing them because the child holds the key to humanity's future.
Often compared to WALL-E meets The Mandalorian, the series features hopepunk themes of found family, robot redemption, and hope rising from ruins. The first book, Steel Guardian, finished second in the Self-Published Science Fiction Competition (SPSFC 2021).
